Touch Rugby seek more Athletic Speed

Updated: May 8, 2020

22nd April 2019

Touch rugby refers to games derived from rugby football in which players do not tackle each other but instead touch their opponents using their hands on any part of the body, clothing, or the ball. A formal, competitive variety, known as Touch, developed from rugby league and now exists as a sport in its own right.

A nursery worker from Nottingham has been chosen to represent England in the 2019 Rugby Touch World Cup.

Sadi Meakin, 27, beat off competition to secure her place in the Women’s Open Team who will be heading to Malaysia in April.

This is the fourth time she’s represented the national side and her second appearance at the World Cup.

Sadi wanted to top up her sprinting speed in preparation for their respective tournaments. Therefore I regrounded her run technique followed by an hour gruelling differential training session at Loughborough University High Performance Centre proved the perfect preparation for her plans.
